How do I find out where my system is located?

You can request a copy of your As-Built drawing from your local health department. If they have no record of your system, a septic system designer can be employed to locate and draw one up for you and the county.

A family of 4 on a gravity fed drain field should have the tank inspected every 3 years. If the system is more complex and contains a submersible pump or Alternative Treatment Unit (ATU) the system should be inspected annually.

My system is backing up into the house. What is the cause?

Plugged main line from the house to the tank. Septic tank full. Effluent filter plugged. Submersible pump not working. Drain field failing. It could be one or more of these problems all at the same time. Solution: Have a Septic professional inspect the system and determine if the tank needs pumping, the main line needs cleaned, filter needs cleaned or drain field is having a problem.

What are Risers?

Risers allow the lids to be located at the surface. They are installed on the top of the septic tank, sealed down with a mastic to keep water from getting into the septic tank. Lids are then screwed down to allow easy maintenance on the system.
